LEGO Robotics Studio

Grades K–5 | Bi-Weekly Workshops

LEGO Robotics at Kinetic Minds introduces children to engineering and coding through hands-on building, testing, and problem-solving using LEGO robotics kits.

In these small-group workshops (drop-in friendly), kids work in pairs to build real robots, program simple behaviors using beginner-friendly coding, and improve their designs through guided challenges. The focus is on curiosity, iteration, and learning how things work — not following step-by-step instructions to a single “right” answer.

Workshops are intentionally capped at a low student-to-instructor ratio to allow for personalized support, collaboration, and confidence-building.

Focus areas:

  • Building and engineering with LEGO robotics components

  • Beginner-friendly coding concepts (motors, sensors, cause and effect)

  • Testing, debugging, and improving designs

  • Teamwork, communication, and explaining ideas

60-minute sessions • Small-group format • No prior experience required
20% of seats reserved for community sponsorship.

LEGO Robotics Club

Grades K–5  | 4-Week Afterschool Series

Our LEGO Robotics Club is a playful, hands-on afterschool experience where kids learn how robots think, move, and respond to the world around them.

Each week, kids explore a new coding concept through building, testing, and problem-solving challenges using LEGO robotics kits. The focus is on curiosity, creativity, and confidence, not perfection.

This program is intentionally designed to feel like a club, not a traditional class. Kids work in small groups, try ideas out loud, make mistakes, and celebrate when something finally works.

No prior coding or robotics experience required. Great for beginners and returning builders alike.

Obstacle Bots

Grades K–2 | Weekly Workshops

Obstacle Bots at Kinetic Minds introduces young learners to early engineering and coding through movement, challenges, and hands-on robot play using programmable robots.

In these small-group, drop-in friendly workshops, kids design and navigate obstacle courses, tape tracks, ramps, mazes, and themed missions. Some weeks might feel like Robot Olympics. Others might be rescue missions or precision-driving challenges.

Students test their ideas by driving and coding robots through dynamic courses, then refine their approach to improve control, speed, and accuracy.

The emphasis is on experimentation, cause and effect, and learning through iteration — not step-by-step instructions or building one “right” solution.

Workshops are intentionally capped at a low student-to-instructor ratio to allow for personalized support, collaboration, and confidence-building.

Focus Areas:

• Designing and navigating obstacle courses
• Understanding motion, speed, and control
• Introductory coding concepts through robot challenges
• Testing, refining, and improving performance
• Collaboration and communication

60-minute sessions • Small-group format • No prior coding experience required

Code & Create: Game Design Studio

Grades 3–5 | 6-Week Series

Our Code & Create: Game Design Studio is a small-group creative coding series designed specifically for upper elementary students ready to move beyond passive screen time and into building their own interactive projects.

Using Scratch, students learn animation, storytelling, and beginner game development through hands-on, studio-style sessions that emphasize experimentation, collaboration, and reflection.

Each class includes structured challenges, pair programming, critique circles, and personal design journals to help students think like designers, not just follow instructions. Projects are open-ended so students can work at their own level while building real technical skills.

By the end of the 6-week series, students will complete a fully playable game and gain confidence in coding fundamentals including sequencing, loops, conditionals, events, and debugging.

Small-group format • Laptops provided • No prior coding experience required

Homeschool Series: Code & Create

Grades 3–5 | 6-Week Studio

This homeschool-focused studio series offers upper elementary students a dedicated daytime creative computing experience built around curiosity, collaboration, and project-based learning.

Students use Scratch to explore animation and game design while developing core coding concepts in a thoughtful, studio-style environment. Each week includes guided exploration, pair programming, critique circles, and structured reflection through personal design journals.

Rather than step-by-step tutorials, students learn how to test ideas, debug challenges, give and receive feedback, and iterate on their own creative builds.

The series culminates in a fully playable game that students can share with family and peers.
